NoWcard has been set up jointly by Cumbria and Lancashire County Councils, and Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool Borough Councils, in conjunction with the District Councils of Lancashire and Cumbria. Working closely with bus operators and other agencies, each local authority will be issuing NoWcards and equipping buses with new or upgraded ticket machines over the coming months, all under the NoWcard banner. - Safer Travel Unit
The Safer Travel Unit has been set up to improve the confidence of passengers on buses and waiting at bus stops and stations. The Unit has played an important regional and national role in developing strategies for making school transport safe and enjoyable, including education programmes, reporting procedures and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts.
