What is the aim of the course?
To give individual drivers the opportunity to address their own particular driving concerns and be able to address these effectively and safely and build confidence.
What are the course objectives?
At the end of the course drivers should have received appropriate training and information to help them deal with their own particular concerns.
How is the course administered?
- The course is delivered by suitably trained Approved Driving Instructors who deliver Lancashire County Council Driver Training courses..
- The instructor collects the client at a mutually agreed place and the car is used as a classroom so that valuable road awareness information can be discussed.
- The client will drive around the area he /she is most likely to drive in so relevant coping strategies for those roads can be given. In the case of a client having experienced a traffic incident, if local he/she may wish to revisit the scene and discuss why it may have happened.
- The client will have as much time to drive as possible with the instructor offering advice on safety, awareness and anticipation.
- If the need is identified by the client that further training would be of benefit, this can be provided by the Road Safety team.
