Creating video and audio for the web

1. Shooting for the web

  1. Plan the shoot - what do you want to come away with?
  2. Minimize movement and busy backgrounds
  3. Use simple close-up shots
  4. Keep both the subjects and the camera stationary - use a tripod if possible
  5. Use an external microphone near the subject - don't rely on the camera microphone
  6. Use headphones to make sure the sound is good when shooting
  7. Avoid intensely bright backgrounds
  8. Avoid zooms and pans (edit these out)
  9. Make sure there is plenty of light (low light gives noisy pictures that are difficult to compress)
  10. Make sure that model release forms are signed (or given out for parents to sign for under 18s). See link:
  11. Make sure there is no profane language - (this will invalidate ICRA rating for SCC website) See link: http://www.icra.org/
