Staff

Our recruitment and selection procedures ensure that we employ staff who are sensitive to the needs of our passengers and treat everyone equally, with respect and dignity.

Travelcare drivers' duties can include helping passengers from their home to the minibus and from the minibus to their destination as well as making sure they are safe and comfortable during the journey. Supporting passengers in this way is as important as the driving role, hence our care in staff selection.

These are just a few of the written comments which passengers have made about Travelcare staff.

"The driver was courteous, helpful, and humorous."

"I found the driver most accommodating."

"Drivers and passenger assistants are very friendly and helpful, suggesting ways to help with my father's travel arrangements."

"The staff have always been punctual and are very helpful, kind and friendly."

All staff are CRB cleared (enhanced level) prior to commencing employment and are re-checked every three years. They wear an LCC photo identity badge and are provided with safety clothing and the best equipment to ensure that our passengers travel safely and comfortably at all times.

Training

Travelcare staff are trained to the high standards. Drivers take a driving and practical ability test before being appointed and are then MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) trained and passenger assistants are PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme) trained. Our comprehensive induction programme includes moving and handling and health & safety training.

In addition, we provide training courses on disability, dementia, deaf and blind awareness and we promote continuous professional development for our supervisors and managers.
