- Can we help to plant the trees?
How many trees will be planted?
We will be planting 100,000 trees every year. That's a total of 2.5 million trees!
To achieve this, we need to find 40 to 50 hectares (or about 100 to 125 acres) every year.
What sort of woodland are you trying create?
Wherever it is practical, we want to plant native British trees that are local to Lancashire.
We would like sites to allow give some benefit to the people of Lancashire, so Community woodlands with public access and footpath networks, as well as woodlands for schools are very much part of our plans.
When does tree planting begin?
Autumn 2010, though the planning for early sites must begin as early as possible in order to ensure planting can be carried out during the planting season.
How long will the Woodlands from Waste scheme last for?
The scheme is part of Lancashire and Blackpool's waste management contract and will continue for 25 years.
Will it cost anything?
No. We will do the surveying, planning and community consultation. The scheme will cover the cost of trees and materials as well as carrying out the establishment and maintenance of the woodland.
Who will look after the trees once they have been planted?
We will maintain or arrange for the cost of maintenance to the woodland for the duration of the project.
Will you only consider Brownfield sites?
What should I do?
The restoration and improvement of Brownfield land is important to us, but any land is of interest as potential Woodlands from Waste sites.
I know of a site, but I don't know who owns it. It would be great if there was some woodland there.
Contact us with any information you may have about the site and we will see if it is suitable and if so, we we'll try to find out if the landowner is interested in becoming involved in our project.
I have an idea for a woodland project that we would like to be involved with...
but we don't have a suitable site. What should I do?
We may be able to connect you with woodland planned for a nearby site.
