Conference announcement
We are pleased to announce that our Beacon Status Conference will be held on 10 November at the Preston Marriott Hotel.
This event is free of charge to all local authorities, charities and citizens groups with an interest in improving services for older people, whether you are a member of an older persons group looking to improve your involvement with your local authority or a council officer tasked with developing strategies for older people this conference will have something for everyone..
Workshops will focus on:
- the development of Lancashire's Strategy for an Ageing Population - more information;
- community engagement work with the many diverse communities of Lancashire;
- Help Direct - our new preventative low level needs service - more information;
- the role played by older people's groups in guiding council services - a workshop to be hosted by older people themselves.

Afternoon presentations will be given by members of Lancashire's new Older People's Assembly, an independent countywide body of older people, who will give insight into the development of the assembly and it's role in driving forward tha ageing agenda within the county.
Our keynote speaker is Richard Jones, Lancashire County Council's executive Director of Adult and Community Services and Vice-President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS).
